Oscar GreenReaders & Writers Series 2008Date: Saturday, August 30, 2PM Local poet Oscar Green will read and discuss his poetry. Green is a retired New York City art teacher, who has taught at every level from elementary to college. He is both artist and poet. His love for poetry began when he was a boy who saved his candy money to buy poetry books. As writer, he thinks that poems can be about what's "outside" the self but must go through the poet's "intestines" in order to transform itself into poetry. One of Green's recent poems, "The Lady," is on display at the Library at Ellis Island.
