Horton By The Stream
The Actor The Dancer
From the awardwinning playwright and screenwriter of The Trip to Bountiful and Tender Mercies. August 11, 8:00 p.m. Doctorow Center for the Arts Tickets: $15 single ticket, $12 members/ subscribers Frank Girardeau, Artistic Director
Dedicated to the preservation, performance and promotion of the works of multi-award winning author and unofficial American Poet Laureate Horton Foote, the Catskill Mountain Region's own Horton by the Stream will be staging two rarelyproduced one-acts, The Actor and The Dancer. Thematically linked by their main characters' forced journeys into early adulthoods, Mr. Foote's The Actor and The Dancer are, by turns, comic and poignant explorations of the commitment it takes to follow ones passions and dreams. Brewing under the subtext of these seemingly innocent plays, theatergoers will experience the charm, warmth and ambition that remain the hallmarks of more well known works, including the Academy Award-winning screen adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird and the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Young Man From Atlanta.
